Dr Khaled Qassem, Deputy Minister of Local Development, official spokesperson for the ministry, revealed the map of the governorates to which the decision to ban construction will apply permanently at the beginning of its implementation after the end of the 6-month period announced by the government.
Qassem told “Masrawy” on Sunday that the building ban system will be implemented in specific neighborhoods, cities and regions and therefore no new building permits will be issued to them, starting in Cairo, Giza and Alexandria.
And the ministry spokesman added: “After applying this system in the aforementioned provinces, the matter will be circulated successively to the rest of the republic’s governorates.”
Dr. Khaled Qassem indicated that this will be in accordance with the guidelines approved by the Supreme Council for Urban Planning.
Major General Mohamed Hanafi, Secretary General of the Cairo Governorate, told Masrawy that the General Authority for Urban Planning is studying the establishment of requirements to determine the fate and form of building permits in the Cairo Governorate. during the next stage.
Hanafi added that the difficulty in determining the construction requirements according to the new directives in the capital lies in the fragmentation of the issue in several parts in addition to the presence of a large number of neighborhoods in Cairo, so the regulation of the Construction requirements in Cairo will be according to several parts, first of which are the areas in which construction will be permanently prohibited and then the areas that will be allowed. In it for construction, with the determination of the number of floors allowed, whether two, three or not, according to each region.
Major General Mohamed Hanafi indicated that this will not be at the level of the entire neighborhood only, but that these divisions will be according to the regions of the same neighborhood, continuing: “Within the same neighborhood there are divisions for construction, areas in which it will be completely prohibited construction and areas where the number of floors will be determined, etc., it is not necessary to avoid complete construction. In all areas of the neighborhood or defining only two floors for the entire neighborhood. “
This occurs in the implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the governorates to suspend construction permits in the governorates for a period of 6 months to review the licenses issued and the degree of compliance with the requirements, in addition to permanently halt construction in the Greater Cairo region, which includes: Cairo, Giza and Qalubia, as well as Alexandria governorate, with the possibility of not considering the directive.
