Masrawy obtained a list of the names of the shipwreck victims, carrying 19 people, as they returned from a recreational trip in the El Mallah area on Lake Mariout, west of Alexandria.
The rescue forces have recovered 5 bodies so far, they are: “Naji Muhammad Naji, one year old, Zaidan Abdel Moneim Hamida, one year and a half, Warda Hamida Hussein, 45 years old, Amal Hammouda, 4 years old and Mona Jweideh Hamida, 25 years old. “.
The injured were “Iman Naoum Hamida, 21, Mahmoud Atiyah Hamida, 23, and Rayan Muhammad Atiyah, 3”.
And Major General Mohamed Al-Sharif, governor of Alexandria, went to the scene of the accident to follow up on rescue efforts, noting that only 5 bodies and 3 wounded have been exhumed so far.
The governor said that 4 river rescue units are still searching for the missing so far, emphasizing that the number of missing is not yet known.
One of the witnesses, Khamis, said that the victims, all of them from the family of a “seabird”, including women and children, were on a recreational trip that the Bedouin call “Zerda” on one of the saltpeter islands. .
Khamis added that the victims were boarding a boat that is a lanch, larger than a “felucca” and they went to the island in the afternoon and were transported by boat in two batches to go.
He noted that the boat’s driver loaded them all at once during his return, causing the boat to sink, saying: “Some of the victims were fasting and had breakfast on the island.”
