China has released an animated short film called “Once Upon a Time” that mocks the United States’ handling of the Corona virus crisis and uses symbols similar to plastic buckets to materialize the two countries.

Washington and Beijing are engaged in a war of words about the origin of the disease, which appeared in the Chinese city of Wuhan and turned into a global pandemic.

On Thursday, United States President Donald Trump said he was confident the Corunna virus emerged in a Chinese virology laboratory, but declined to provide evidence.

In an animated film released by Xinhua, a red curtain opens to reveal a platform with plastic cube-like symbols in the form of a terracotta army with a snout and a statue of liberty.

“We have discovered a new virus,” says the warrior. The statue of liberty says, “So what? It’s just the flu.”

The warrior then issues virus warnings and recounts the most important achievements China has made in fighting the outbreak. The statue responds with a kind of denial, while Trump’s press conferences echo the severity of the illness.

“Do you listen to yourself?” Asks the warrior to the statue, which has started to turn red and has a fever.

“We are always right if we contradict ourselves,” he replies.

The United States and other countries have accused China of misleading the world about the severity of the outbreak, and have called for an international investigation to discover the origin of the virus.

In an interview with Reuters, Trump said he believed China’s handling of the Corona pandemic was evidence that Beijing “will do everything possible” to lose the November election.
