Alexandria – Mohamed Amer:
A wave of bad weather hit the coast of Alexandria this Tuesday morning, accompanied by moderate to heavy rains, storms and a marked drop in temperatures.
According to the warnings of the Meteorological Authority, the country, especially the northern coasts, will witness during the next 72 hours air fluctuations, heavy rains and wind activity.
Major General Mohamed Al-Sharif, Governor of Alexandria, announced an increase in the level of maximum preparedness and emergency in all executive bodies to deal with unstable weather conditions.
The sewerage company, in coordination with the neighborhoods, the drinking water companies and Nahdet Misr, paid around 180 cars to clean the accumulated rainwater from the streets, tunnels and highways.
According to the governor’s decision, the study was suspended today in all schools in Alexandria, to allow the executive bodies to deal with the effects of bad weather.
The governor instructed citizens to be careful during the current period and not to descend except in cases of extreme necessity, noting that the rain wave is accompanied by strong winds.
Al-Sharif explained that concrete barriers have been placed in hot spots along the Corniche to avoid high waves, which can reach 4 and a half meters.
