Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, on Sunday, continued the efforts made by the different actors to use natural gas as an alternative fuel for cars and vehicles.
Masrawy publishes the most prominent information on the use of natural gas as a fuel for automobiles:
1- Replacement operations are started to convert cars to gas in 7 governorates as a first stage, due to the availability of adequate infrastructure in them.
2- The replacement program with financing of 1,200,000 pounds in 3 years.
3- The government communicates with the Central Bank, several banks and the Agency for the Development of Medium, Small and Micro-enterprises; Establish unified conditions so that easy installation of cars is agreed.
4- Establish an integrated scrapping and replacement system that takes into account the social and economic aspects of car owners.
5- Private sector companies are the ones in charge of the manufacturing and production process.
6- An agreement with the Ministry of Petroleum for the transfer at a cost ranging between 8 and 12 thousand pounds, with soft loans and simple interest, and through the centers of the companies “Cargas” and “GasTech”.
7- All buses of the Cairo Public Transport Authority are being converted to run on natural gas instead of diesel.
8- The conversion experiment that was carried out on a bus, as a sample before completing the rest of the initiative.
9- Establishment of a plant for the production of advanced compressed natural gas cylinders for CNG cars.
10- The government’s strategy to convert cars to dual fuel economy is mainly focused on minibuses and taxis.
11- Cars are divided into two main categories, the first that has been manufactured for more than 20 years and runs on gasoline or diesel, and the second that has not been produced for more than 20 years and runs on gasoline.
12- The time it takes for the car to be converted to run on natural gas as an alternative fuel ranges from two to four hours, depending on the type of vehicle.
13- The price of a cubic meter of natural gas currently reaches 3.5 pounds, while the price of a liter of gasoline “80” is 6.25 pounds and gasoline “92” is 7.5 pounds per liter.
14- You can achieve savings of around 825 pounds per month, when the average daily consumption is 10 liters of “80” gasoline.
15- The savings rate is approximately 1,200 pounds per month if you use “92” gasoline.
16- Contracting procedures are simplified; It is represented in a copy of the identity card and the driver’s license, and a recent “electricity-gas-water” receipt.
17- Instant gifts are given to customers by paying in cash.
18- The client can recover the transfer value of the savings in the use of natural gas during a period of 3 to 6 months at the average consumption rate.
19- The higher the daily gasoline consumption rate, the shorter the recovery period.
20- The number of financing stations for cars and vehicles with natural gas has reached 207.
