The thieves took advantage of the family’s concern for the late Italian legend, Paolo Rossi, with his funeral ceremonies on Saturday night to break into his home and steal his personal belongings, including his watch.
According to Football Italia, Federica Cappelletti, a Russian widow, discovered that her house had been robbed, after returning from the funeral, and found the house in disarray.
The source said police are investigating the scene and gathering evidence.
Yesterday, Saturday, thousands of Italians attended a Russian funeral, and the coffin that carried his body was transported first to the “Romeo Minti” stadium in Vicenza, and then to the Duomo di Vicenza, before being transferred to Perugia, where it was buried there.
Rossi, the top scorer in the 1982 World Cup who crowned Italy last Wednesday at the age of 64, after a long suffering with a “terminal illness”.
