Sheikh Talal Al Thani’s wife, Asma Eryan, said: “I received threats from Doha that came to kill.”
He added, in an interview with Al-Arabiya, that “Qatari officials threatened me and demanded that I remain silent on my husband’s situation.”
He indicated that he had provided the German police with “threatening letters that I received from Doha.”
She continued: “My husband’s state of health is dangerous,” explaining that “the United Nations has asked Qatar for clarification on the situation of my detained husband.”
He expressed fear that “my children will face the fate of their father and grandfather in Qatar”, and “the Qatari authorities remain intransigent and refuse to speak about my husband’s situation.”
Fox News of America reported that Sheikh Talal Al-Thani’s family had received threats from Doha due to their international campaign calling for his release, and emphasized that Sheikh Talal’s arrest by Qatar contradicts his attempt to promote himself as a democracy.

The United Nations, for its part, demanded that Doha release Sheikh Talal Al-Thani, and the Qatari Foreign Ministry declined to comment on Sheikh Talal’s condition.
For his part, Sheikh Talal Al-Thani’s lawyer confirmed, according to “Fox News”, that “Sheikh Talal is detained for political and not economic reasons, as Doha claims,” and demanded that he be allowed to reunite with his family.
