The Supreme Council of Universities held its monthly meeting today, Saturday, at Fayoum University, headed by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in the presence of Dr. Tariq Shawky, Minister of Education and Education Technician, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansari, Governor of Fayoum, Dr. Mohamed Latif, Secretary of the Council and directors of universities.

According to the statement from the Ministry of Higher Education, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research highlighted the importance of regularity in the study and preparation of midterms according to the hybrid education system approved by the Supreme Council of Universities, while continuing implementing precautionary and preventive measures in all universities in accordance with the procedures approved by the Supreme Council of Universities.

Abdul Ghaffar also emphasized the importance of directly following the university rectors for the preparation of isolation university hospitals, with the provision of places for the isolation of children and the availability of strategic stocks of medicines to deal with the Corona virus, and personal condoms for all medical teams and workers of university hospitals, highlighting the importance of the full preparation of all university hospitals to face all possible scenarios to face the epidemic spread of the emerging corona virus. He thanked the Supreme Council of University Hospitals for their decision to restart the isolation university hospitals to their maximum capacity.

The minister also presented to the university rectors the latest executive advances related to the establishment of new private universities.

Dr Tariq Shawky, Minister of Education, spoke about the knowledge bank and its origin and how the Egyptian researcher can benefit from this electronic library and its role in improving the state of scientific and academic research in Egyptian universities. He also referred to the plans of the Ministry of Education to rehabilitate the Egyptian student and equip him with science and technology using the latest scientific tools available. And establish more than one standard to measure the educational abilities of students.

Higher education added that the council heard the presentation made by the Egyptian Knowledge Bank on the e-learning management system, as well as the MKCL presentation on the electronic exam administration program.

The Council approved the recommendations of the committee formed to develop curricula in Egyptian universities related to increasing population and increasing the level of awareness and belonging among Egyptian university students.

The Council decided to generalize the study of the German language for students of medical and engineering faculties in Egyptian universities, in light of the book received from the Minister of Education, the Council decided not to require students to have foreign certificates equivalent to the diploma high school students who present a sequence of studies that accredits the student’s expenditure for twelve years in education and sufficiency in this In connection with the presentation of a certificate issued by the Ministry of Education that indicates that the certificate obtained by the student is equivalent Egypt General Secondary Education Certificate

The council also decided to approve the list of distinguished foreign universities in the areas of pharmacy, human medicine, dentistry, engineering, technical studies, information and technology systems and literature. The equivalence of the certificates awarded by these universities to those awarded by Egyptian universities will be considered, provided that this decision applies to students who wish to study abroad. From the next academic year 2021/2022.

In its session, the council also approved the independence of the South Valley University branch in Hurghada to become an independent university under the name Hurghada University, with legal measures taken in this regard.
