Health Minister receives first shipments of emerging corona virus vaccine from China

Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, will receive, on Thursday night, the first shipments of the Coronavirus vaccine produced by the Chinese company (Sinopharm), at the Cairo International Airport, from the United Arab Emirates, in presence of the Chinese ambassador in Egypt and the Charge d’Affaires of the Emirati ambassador.

Dr. Khaled Mujahid, Advisor to the Minister of Health and Population for Media Affairs and official spokesperson for the ministry, explained that this vaccine has proven to be 86% effective in preventing emerging coronavirus, 99% in producing antibodies against the virus and 100% in preventing access to moderate and severe cases.

Mujahid said that the priority in the distribution of the vaccine will be for workers in the health sector, with priority for workers in isolation, chest and fever hospitals, and patients with tumors and kidney failure, and noted that the vaccine is administered in the shoulder muscle in two doses, separated by 21 days.
