Hazem Imam, back in Zamalek, confirmed that Mahmoud Kahraba, the current Al-Ahly playmaker, has been known to belong to the Red Castle since his time at the White Club.
Hazem Imam said in televised statements that Kahraba had lived with Ahlawy for a long time even when he was playing for Zamalek, and this was something everyone knew within the club.
Hazem Imam emphasized that Kahraba’s affiliation with the Al-Ahly club did not affect his commitment to Zamalek during his time, saying: “Kahraba would die in the stadium while playing in Zamalek regardless of his affiliation with Al-Ahly.”
Hazem Imam added that Zamalek at this time does not include any player belonging to the Al-Ahly club, as some believe, saying: “There is no current player in the Zamalek Club Ahlawi.” And about the presence of players within the Al-Ahly club who support Zamalek, Hazem Imam said: “I don’t know that is true. Or not.”
Hazem Imam spoke about the final of the African Champions League final between Al-Ahly and Zamalek, noting that after Afsha’s second goal, which decided the match in favor of Al-Ahly, he looked at the time in the stadium to find out time remaining, he later learned that Zamalek would not be compensated for the approach of the match at the end, noting that all Zamalek players headed to the locker room immediately after the referee announced the end of the match.
Hazem Imam revealed his rejection of the saying “Zamalek is coming”, highlighting that it appeared in 2005 due to the bad conditions at that time, but at present the team has players of the highest level and this phrase does not apply to the team at all.
Hazem Imam explained that the current generation of Zamalek does not include any players who are afraid to face Al-Ahly, unlike what was happening in 2007, as some players were concerned about the previous results with Al-Ahly.
Hazem Imam highlighted that the Zamalek players are waiting for the next league summit match, to erase the defeat in the African final and open a new page with the fans, explaining that this period is witnessing the superiority of Zamalek over Al-Ahly regardless of the defeat of the Champions League final, saying: “Zamalek is superior to Al-Ahly in the last 5 years with results.”
Hazem Imam added that the older generation of Al-Ahly, which included Abu Trika and Barakat, was witnessing a landslide victory for Al-Ahly, and since Hussam Hassan took over Zamalek’s training, he began to form a new team and the scale became the same between Al-Ahly and Zamalek.
