Gold prices in Egypt registered an increase of 5 pounds per gauge in overnight transactions today, Thursday, as the 21 gauge, which is the best-selling in Egypt, recorded 820 pounds per gram, in the context of the return of an ounce of gold globally at $ 1874, after a significant decline in gold over the past three days.

The 18 gauge registered 702 pounds per gram.

The 21 gauge registered 820 pounds per gram.

The 24 gauge registered 937.25 pounds per gram.

The pound of gold is 6560 pounds.

The dollar maintained its gains against most currencies on Thursday, after signs of an economic slowdown in Europe and the United States reignited concerns about the repercussions of a second wave of coronavirus infections.

The euro, already plagued by fears of a return to strict lockdown measures, faces an additional hurdle on Thursday when German business confidence data is released.

The dollar is likely to continue to rise as a further surge in Corona cases in Europe has fueled the appetite for it as a safe haven, while policy makers at the Federal Reserve (US Central Bank) have asked the US government to provide more financial support.

The dollar was trading at 1.656 against the euro on Thursday, just below its two-month high that it hit on Wednesday.

The dollar consolidated near its nine-month high against the Swiss franc at 0.9236 and also maintained the gains it posted the previous session against the Japanese yen, which recorded 105.45 yen.

The pound was trading against $ 1.2705, close to its lowest level against the dollar since late July.

The dollar rose this week after a spike in corona cases in Europe and Britain, undermining investors’ optimism about progress in developing a vaccine.

The dollar index hit 94,430 against a basket of six major currencies today, close to its highest level in nine weeks.

The Australian dollar fell 0.45 percent to $ 0.7042, close to its lowest level since July 21.

The New Zealand dollar fell 0.3 percent to US $ 0.6529, adding to a 1.3 percent drop in the previous session, when New Zealand’s central bank hinted at further monetary easing.
