In the context of evaluating the efforts made by all medical teams to deal with the emerging coronavirus, the Minister thanked all the workers in the central laboratories of the Ministry of Health and Population and its branches in the provinces, which are one of the most important protective arms of the ministry, for their great efforts to tackle the spread of the new corona virus in Egypt; and its effective role in early detection of positive cases.
The Minister of Health said that 200,000 tests were carried out with Rapit Test and more than 90,000 PCR analyzes of cases suspected of infection with the Corona virus, as well as a follow-up of infected cases with isolation and quarantine hospitals until their analyzes were completed. they came back negative and fully recovered.
The Minister indicated that the Virus Department is one of the most important departments of the central laboratories and is responsible for carrying out further analyzes of the Corona virus, with a total of medical team personnel at the Republic level of up to 900 people, including “doctors, pharmacists, chemists, laboratory technicians and administrators”, where laboratories take the surveys, analyze them and send the results to the Ministry’s crisis room to take the necessary measures, which contributed greatly to early detection. of the affected cases and to transfer them to isolation hospitals for treatment and medical attention.
The Minister indicated that to increase the professional competence of workers in central laboratories and their branches, the Ministry of Health and Population organized 50 training courses for workers on how to take smears and apply infection control standards while handling samples. He noted that laboratories have a trained infection control team to protect medical teams from injury. In addition, the number of virus laboratories at the republic level has been increased to 27 laboratories, including 12 laboratories whose capacity is increased from 20 cases to 100 cases every 5 hours, with the aim of increasing the number of swabs for suspected cases, and Labs have 36 PCR assay devices for testing. The new Corona Virus, 9 of which are located in the main laboratory and 27 in the branches of the provinces, where the central laboratories have been linked to the sub-laboratories through a unified electronic network to guarantee the prompt arrival of results until that the necessary measures are taken and guarantee the complete confidentiality of the data, and another 12 PCR devices will increase during the next month. .
The Minister confirmed the availability of sufficient stocks of swabs and test samples for pcr analysis for suspected cases.
The Ministry of Health and Population continues to increase its preparations in all provinces, follows the situation first hand with respect to the “emerging crown” virus and takes all necessary precautions against any virus or infectious disease, as the “105” hotline and “15335” have been assigned to receive citizen inquiries about an emerging and infectious disease Corona virus.
