Walid Al-Attar, Executive Director of the Egyptian Football Association, stated that Al-Jabaliya did not address the African Football Confederation (CAF) about the change of the stadium for the final of the CAF Champions League, which will bring together the Egyptian football clubs Al-Ahly and Zamalek.
Al-Attar said in remarks on “Ontime Sports 1” screen Saturday night: “We have obtained approvals for Al-Ahly and Zamalek’s match at Burj Al Arab Stadium.”
He added: “The decision to transfer the stadium is solely related to the African Football Confederation, and they are the ones making the decisions.”
The last few days have seen the news of the change of stadium of the final of the CAF Champions League due to the weather conditions in Alexandria.
Al-Attar revealed during his remarks that there is now talk for fans to enter the final match, but there is no official decision yet.
And he concluded: “The game so far has been without fans, with a decision of enough for the health conditions due to the Corona virus.”
Al-Ahly will play rival Zamalek on the 27th of this month at the “Burj Al Arab” stadium in the final of the African Champions League competition.
Al-Ahly climbed to the final position by beating Moroccan Wydad Casablanca with a score of (5-1) in the two home and away matches, in contrast, Zamalek edged Moroccan league champion Raja by winning (4- 1) in the aggregate of the two home and away matches.
It is worth noting that Al-Ahly last won the Champions League title in the 2013 edition by beating Hollando, South Africa, in contrast to Zamalek’s last Champions League title in the 2002 edition to Raja Casablanca expense.
