The Al-Ahly club soccer team qualified for the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup for the sixth time in its history, after winning the African Champions League title at the expense of its traditional rival Zamalek and winning it by two goals from one in the final match of the competition.

The FIFA Club World Cup system requires the African champion to face the winner of the Asian champion’s two matches against the North American champion, or the winner of both matches with the tournament organizer in the Battle of Oceania.

Al Duhail, the Qatari organizer of the tournament, will face New Zealand team Auckland City, champions of Oceania, on the first of February next in the opening match of the Club World Cup.

It remains to be mentioned that Al-Ahly’s best results in the Club World Cup were bronze in the 2006 edition.

The next edition of the Club World Cup will be held in Doha from February 1 to 11, 2021.
