Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane expressed his joy at his team’s victory over Inter in the Champions League.

Real Madrid beat Inter with two unanswered goals at the San Siro stadium on matchday four, for the second phase of the group stage, taking their score to seventh point.

Zidane said: “It was an important match and the preparation was good. We knew it was a difficult match but we showed a strong personality.”

“I am happy for the players. They are criticized when we don’t play good games, but you can’t always win in football,” he told Britain’s Sky Sports network.

And he continued: “The most important thing is to give everything you have in each game, and that’s what we did tonight.”

“We want to always play good football and achieve victories, but this is not available all the time,” he added.

“Last week (against Villarreal) we played very well for 75 minutes and then we conceded a goal, but the reaction of the people was that we played a disastrous game; however, this is what happens in football.”

“Inter played a great first half, but this is football,” he concluded.

Real Madrid are second in the group behind Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Zidane mentioned talking about Diego Armando Maradona, the Argentine legend, who died yesterday, and a few hours before the game.

“Everyone feels sad for him and his family,” Zidane said.

“Everyone loves Maradona, he does not relate to those who work only with football,” he added.

“He was always on my mind. At the 1986 (World Cup) I was 14 years old and I saw what he did and it was something unique.”
