Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema showed his coach Zinedine Zidane’s vision by scoring two goals in a 3-1 win over Athletic Bilbao, but Zizou brought him yet another high praise.
Benzema scored two goals to lead the real team to bring down Bilbao on matchday 19 of La Liga.
Zidane responded to a question about whether Benzema was the best in the history of France’s attack, saying: “For me, yes.”
“He has shown it and has been playing for Real Madrid for a long time,” he explained.
He continued: “He played more than 500 games and scored goals, and his numbers speak for themselves.”
Then he continued: “For me, Benzema is the best and it is clear.”
“Benzema is a more complete player now, he is not just a regular number 9 and he does not think only about goals, that’s why I love him.”
Zidane continued talking about his passage through the difficult period that Real Madrid suffered, when they beat Sevilla, Atlético de Madrid and Bilbao in La Liga and Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League.
On that, he said, “people will always talk no matter what you do. I have things to do and I only think about that.”
“Things are going well and I am happy to win,” he added.
“You will always suffer in La Liga. It is true that we faced difficulties against Bilbao, but in the end we got the three points,” he added.
“We don’t have to talk much about the game, the most important thing was to win. We didn’t play well, but you always have to win even if you don’t play well.”
