Spain won the bronze medal at the 2021 Egypt Handball World Championship, beating France 35-29 in the Cairo stadium hall, in a match to determine third and fourth place.

Spain won the second bronze in its history, after the 2011 edition organized by Sweden.

Spain also returned to the podium by occupying one of the top three places for the first time since 2013, when they claimed their second title on their soil.

For its part, France failed to repeat the achievement of the last edition by finishing third, and will be off the podium for the fourth time only in the last 15 copies.

This victory is considered the biggest of Spain over France in the history of their clashes in major tournaments (World Championship – European Championship – Olympiad).

Spain imposed its superiority throughout the match and managed to finish the first half with a score of 16-13.

Spanish goalkeeper Rodrigo Corrales won the Man of the Match award after his impressive saves.

Spain claimed the tournament in the semifinals at the hands of Denmark, while France lost to Sweden.

Denmark will play neighboring Sweden today, Sunday, in the hall of the Cairo Stadium to determine the 2021 Egyptian champion.
