The Wolverhampton wolves could not howl again against Manchester City and complete the streak of good results they achieved against them last season by winning back and forth.
Manchester City won their first English Premier League matches against Wolverhampton at the Moulinex Stadium on Monday 3-1.
That match took place at the end of the second round, as City’s meeting in the first round was postponed after it had an additional break from its participation in the Champions League last season.
The goals of the match were scored by Kevin De Bruyne from the penalty spot and Phil Foden at 20 and 32 minutes.
Raúl Jiménez reduced the score with a goal in the 78th minute.
With that result, Manchester City achieved their first three points in the Premier League, ranking them in ninth place.
While Wolverhampton stayed at three points, they are in third place after playing two games.
Summary of the meeting
The match started under pressure from City and in the 19th minute, City won a penalty after Roman Sais blocked Kevin de Bruyne.
De Bruyne successfully shot the penalty to the left of Rui Patricio, who tried to block the ball but was faster than him.
At 11 minutes, specifically at 30, and with quick passes between De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling, the ball reached Voden, who hit the net easily to announce his team’s second goal.
In the second half, Wolverhampton began to wake up in the middle of it, and the first threat came with a shot from Daniel Bodence that went over the City goal.
It was followed by a shot from Jiménez after a cross from Adama Traore went through the goal.
In the 78th minute, Bodens sent a beautiful cross that Jiménez headed into the net to narrow the score.
In the final seconds of the calculated four-minute stoppage, Jesús fired a ball from inside the penalty area that struck the foot of a Wolverhampton defender and jumped into the net to announce City’s third goal and the end of the match.
