Sherif El-Erian, secretary general of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, said Mortada Mansour, president of Zamalek, has the right to appeal the decision to suspend him for four years at the Sports Arbitration and Arbitration Center or on the Swiss Sports Court.
The secretary general of the Egyptian Olympic Committee spoke on the channel “Echo Al Balad”, saying: “Murtaza refused to submit to an investigation due to the immunity he possesses as a member of Parliament.”
And he continued: “Sports matters are different from political matters. You have the right to appeal the sanction within a week, and it can be reduced or annulled or it remains as is according to the evidence presented in the case of appeal.” .
“The decisions of the Olympic Committee are binding on everyone, and the decision will be valid even if an appeal is filed, until other decisions are issued,” he stressed.
He continued: “We did not decide to demolish the Zamalek, we only arrested the club president, and we asked the club board not to sign any document because he would not be taken into account. In exchange, the vice president or general director must sign and the club will function normally. “
Asked about the reason for the timing of the punishment, he said: “When complaints come to us, we investigate them directly, but we do not control when people complain.”
Regarding the reason for not implementing the decision to suspend Murtado for two years, after the Olympic Committee also issued a decision in 2018, he replied: “We resigned and hoped that things would be better.”
“Currently, we will not withdraw the complaint, why are we resigning?”
When asked about Zamalek’s complaint against Al-Ahly, he replied: “We are also investigating it, and if there is evidence to show any person’s error, we will issue the decision directly.”
The Egyptian Olympic Committee had decided to suspend Mortada Mansour for 4 years from practicing any sporting activity in Egypt, with a fine of 100,000 pounds.
