Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, reassured the athletes working in Zamalek in light of the recent crisis related to the Egyptian Olympic Committee’s decision to suspend Mortada Mansour, president of the club.

“I assure the soccer team and the athletes, whether it’s today or tomorrow,” Sobhi said in a short interview with Ontime Sports on Sunday, “The soccer team and the athletes don’t hurt each other, whatever the decision.”

“I confirm it,” he stressed.

Mortada Mansour filed an appeal against the Olympic Committee, which issued a decision to suspend it for 4 years, with elections in Zamalek to choose a new president.

Mortada remains the president of Zamalek until now, and the team is about to face Ismaily in the final round of the Egyptian Premier League on Monday, and Moroccan Raja in the second leg of the semi-finals of the African Champions League. the next Sunday.

Sobhi revealed that “adequate” communication has been maintained with the African Football Confederation regarding the attendance of fans at the final of the CAF Champions League.

Sobhi concluded: “There was contact with the CAF because it is the party responsible for the matches. The African Confederation removed some of the attendees from the stadium in Al-Ahly’s match against Wydad.”

Al-Ahly skipped the Moroccan Wydad towards the Champions League final, waiting for the winner of Zamalek or Raja.

Cairo will host the Champions Final on November 6.

CAF matches are held without an audience, given the precautionary measures due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
