Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, explained the government’s plan to deal with the Port Said stadium.

“The Port Said stadium was one of the stadiums chosen for the African Cup of Nations, but we found all its walls in danger of falling,” Subhi said on Radio Youth and Sports.

He added: “We did not take an opinion, but formed a committee of professors from Cairo University and Port Said and the Engineering Authority, and it was agreed to demolish the stadium and develop the entire area into a multipurpose stadium.”

“The region includes the Club Port Said, the Youth Stadium and the soccer stadium. We are implementing instructions to develop the area, restoration is not the objective,” said the Minister of Sports.

Ashraf Sobhy concluded his statements: “The new Port Said stadium will have a greater capacity than another stadium that will also be built in the new government sports city.”

Ashraf Sobhi previously revealed the establishment of a new stadium in the Port Said governorate, with a capacity of 40,000 spectators.

Sobhi told FilGoal.com of a field visit east of the Port Said governorate: “We are reviewing the proposed sites for an integrated sports city in the new city of Salam.”

He continued: “We are working to complete the state’s development and development plan, and the sports city will have international specifications to host major tournaments.”

He revealed: “Among the sports buildings, the new Port Said stadium, with capacity for 40,000 spectators.”
