FilGoal | News | Press Release – Setién: Barcelona did not notify us of the dismissal until yesterday. We will take legal action against you

Former Barcelona manager Quique Setien revealed that he had not received a written notification of his dismissal until Wednesday, and indicated that he would go to court against the club.

Setién was fired as Barcelona coach a month ago after a humiliating exit from the Champions League with eight Bayern Munich goals, and Ronald Koeman replaced him in the team’s technical direction.

Setien published a statement on his behalf and on his three assistants: Idir Sarabia, John Bascona and Fran Soto.

Setien said in the statement that “after a complete silence from the Barcelona administration that lasted for a whole month, and several different demands on our part, we received only yesterday the first official notice of dismissal by fax.”

Setién said: “It is known that Barcelona and its president announced on August 17 the decision of immediate dismissal.”

The former Barcelona coach explained, however, that “he did not receive a written document of his dismissal until September 16 (that is, after a whole month), without including any arrangements.”

Setien believes that “the intention of the management is not to fulfill the contracts signed on January 14, 2020” when he was hired to coach the team.

Finally, Setien reported that he and his crew would turn the matter over to the lawyers and that he would take the necessary legal steps to preserve their rights.
