Today, Tuesday, the CAF Club Committee meeting was held to seek the opinion of the clubs on whether or postponing the Champions League and Confederation Semifinals matches on time.

So what happened behind the scenes? FilGoal.com reveals.

As reported by FilGoal.com, Hani Abu Raida, a member of the executive office at CAF, suggested to the members that they first consult the clubs before discussing whether or not to postpone the Champions League and the Confederation Championships.

The meeting, which was held via “conference call”, was attended by Hanan Al-Zaini, Director of Public Relations for Al-Ahly, and Amir Mortada Mansour, General Supervisor of Football in Zamalek.

Before Pyramids, the meeting was attended by Hani Saeed, the sporting director, and Mohamed Salah, the team manager.

As FilGoal.com knows, Mahmoud Al-Khatib, President of Al-Ahly, felt embarrassed and decided not to attend the meeting, as he was President of the Red Castle and at the same time a member of the Club Committee in his personal capacity.

Therefore, Al-Khatib informed his counterpart Abu Raida of Al-Ahly’s decision regarding the Champions League and did not attend the meeting.

During the meeting, enough officials asked the clubs to express their opinions on whether or not to postpone the two championships.

A CAF source, who requested anonymity, told FilGoal.com that all the clubs had agreed to postpone the two championships, except for Zamalek and Pyramids. (See details)

Zamalek and Pyramids officials believe there is no reason to postpone the games scheduled for late September.

The question remains when is the official decision issued?

The UA Executive Office will meet next Thursday to discuss what happened during today’s Club Commission meeting.

All proposed dates will be studied in case of postponement and the start of the new season, and after the recommendations of the Club Committee, the Executive Office will issue the official decision.
