Wolverhampton FC officially announced the signing of Barcelona defender Nelson Simedo in a contract that runs until the summer of 2023 with the option to extend it until the summer of 2025.
Barcelona said in its statement that it had sold its player for 30 million euros, in addition to 10 million in additions.
Jeff Shi, Executive Director of Wolverhampton, said: “Regarding the technical and administrative staff, the players and the club, we are all making a great effort to constantly improve.”
“The opportunity is not very long to sign with a world-class player from a great club. An agreement to include Semedo shows that we will never stop developing and that we are still hungry for more and are modest.”
Semedo, 26, is the tenth Portuguese in the team, after Roy Patricio, Roderick Miranda, Robin Vinagry, Robin Neves, Joao Moutinho, Vitina, Daniel Bodens, Pedro Neto and Fabio Silva.
Wolverhampton has five deals in its ranks this summer, in addition to Simedo, Fabio Silva, Ki-Jana Hoover, Marsal, Mattia Sarkic and Vitina.
Simedo, 26, is a Portuguese international right back who arrived in Barcelona in the summer of 2017 from Benfica, with 35 million euros.
In total, Semedo played 124 games for Barcelona, in which he scored two goals and scored 11 goals.
Semedo has 14 international appearances for Portugal, the last of which was in October 2019.
Wolverhampton are looking for a right-back after they sold Irish player Matt Doherty to Tottenham Hotspur.
