Al-Ahly’s new coach, Pitso Mosimane, sent a message to team fans hours before taking up his duties at Red Castle.
Mosimani posted a video on his Twitter account, in which he said: “This is a big dream. The team you are most excited to work with is Al-Ahly, the biggest club in the world, with the best audience.” .
He added: “I know the magnitude of your enthusiasm for your club and I trust your support to achieve our dreams together. You are the shield and the sword, I trust you and the great history and respectable and professional management.”
And he concluded: “We are together to keep Al-Ahly always on top and the club will always be number one, with its continued support, through thick and thin. Al-Ahly is above all.”
Musimani arrived in Cairo on Friday morning after a long journey from his home country of South Africa.
On Thursday, Al-Ahly announced the signing of Musimani as the team’s new technical director. And for the next two seasons, he will succeed Swiss Rene Fyler.
Al-Ahly revealed Musimani’s assistive device, which includes a general coach, a physical trainer and a performance analyst. Sami Shirts will also join the system as assistant coach, and Belgian goalkeeping coach Michel Yankon, who have been retained, with Sayed Abdel Hafeez continuing as ball director.
Musimane had won the CAF Champions League with Sundowns in 2016 at the expense of Zamalek.
Mosimane led the Sundowns in 2012, winning the League titles 5 times and a summer two, the Nedbank Cup twice and the Telkom Cup two, as well as winning the Champions League and the African Super Cup.
Musimane was named Coach of the Month 5 times in the South African League, as well as the best coach of the season 4 times and won the Best Coach of the Month award on the continent in 2016.
Al-Ahly prepares to face the Arab Contractors, next Sunday, in the 31st match of the Egyptian League.
