Mortada Mansour, president of the Zamalek Club, does not feel any discomfort from the players on his team and the coaching staff after losing the African Champions League title to Al-Ahly.

Al-Ahly were crowned champions of the African Champions League for the ninth time in their history, after beating Zamalek by two goals to one. (See details).

Mortada Mansour said: “I am not upset with any player or with the coaching staff. Zamalek played a great game in the final.”

He added in his remarks to FilGoal.com, “I am going to have a session with the Zamalek players before the start of training on Sunday to talk to them.”

“Zamalek played a great game, but we lost the title with a systematic plan,” he added.

He stated: “A systematic plan against me started with my isolation, then made me lose the elections and then lose the African Championship in Zamalek.”

After a seven-year absence, Al-Ahly claimed his favorite championship with the “Ghadara … Ghadara” stage, as described by match commentator Issam Shawali in an exciting match against Zamalek.

And that title became the ninth in its history to continue its single record as the most crowned champion and qualify for the Club World Cup in Qatar in February 2021.

Al-Ahly also guaranteed his participation in the African Super Cup next December in Cairo against the champion of the Confederation, the Moroccan Borkan Club.

This adds to that because that qualification for the final was No. 13 in Al-Ahly’s history, which is a record no one has preceded before.

Al-Ahly scored 36 goals during the Champions League last season, which is an all-time record that no one has scored before.

The previous number was 31 goals and was also registered in the name of Al-Ahly, equal to Enyimba of Nigeria.

Al-Ahly coach Pitso Musimane won the second African title in its history after winning it for the first time four years ago at the expense of Zamalek himself, but at the time he was the coach of South African Mamelodi Sundowns.
