Former Liverpool player Steve McManaman believes Red’s manager Juergen Klopp will continue to trust the trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino more than the recent brilliant Diogo Jota.
Jota, who came to Liverpool last summer, scored his eighth goal in his last eight games in all competitions, against Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday.
“I still think that Klopp loves to trust Salah, Firmino and Mane right now, as much as Jota is very good,” McManaman said in remarks featured by the Mirror newspaper.
“I think he will continue to be the player who leaves him on the bench during the current period,” added the former Real Madrid player.
“If he continues to shine, that may change, but Klopp won the league with Salah, Mane and Firmino, so he fully trusts them.”
The Egyptian international is Liverpool’s top scorer so far this season, with 10 goals in all competitions, compared to 9 goals for his Portuguese colleague.
Senegalese Mane scored 5 goals and Brazilian Firmino scored two.
Liverpool prepare to face Ajax in the fifth round of the group stage of the European Champions League on Tuesday at Anfield.
