Mazen Marzouq revealed the reason for changing the Super Match roster, starting season after season, and playing the league runner-up to face off if the league champion and the Egyptian Cup were the same team.
Egyptian League and Cup champions Al-Ahly face their rival Talaia El-Geish, Cup runners-up, in the Egyptian Super Cup.
Mazen Marzouq told “On Time Sports 2”, saying: “The next supercar between Al-Ahly and the Army vanguards, this is official.”
“The new regulation will stipulate if the league champion is the cup champion, and the second match of the Super Cup will be the runner-up,” he added.
When asked about the reason, he justified, “so that the Super Final meeting is not a repeat of the Cup final and the coach and the league runner-up, has worked more in the course of the season than the cup runner-up than just won four games. “
He continued: “Also, for the sponsors, this makes a difference and gives more value to the match, and the matter has nothing to do with Zamalek’s failure to qualify for the final of the Egyptian Cup last season, but the matter was resolved early. “
He stressed that “there is no rule to determine the second game to meet the Super, and for me it is more marketing than technical.”
Egypt Cup and Olympiad
When asked which stages of the Egyptian Cup could be held without the international players, Mazer Marzouq replied: “Only round 32.”
He added: “This is the only role that will be played in the Cup without the international players.”
Regarding Al-Ahly’s objection not to postpone the league due to the Tokyo Olympics and the possession of many players in the Egyptian Olympic team, he replied: “Al-Ahly did not object at all.”
He added, “Enppi is the only club that has opposed and has five players in the national team, and maybe not all of them will be chosen. We don’t know, so it is not logical to postpone the league.”
He highlighted: “The majority opinion, 17 clubs out of 18 supported the completion of the tournament, while Enppi refused, and thus the public interest made us make the decision to complete the competition.”
And he added: “We want to complete the tournament and finish it in mid-August, and we do not want postponements because there is the African Cup of Nations that will be held in early 2022.”
“Isn’t it difficult for Liverpool to let Mohamed Salah join us at the Olympics with 90% and another club wants to postpone it? We don’t want to put ourselves in a difficult position on the agenda,” he added.
“In two years, we want the league to start in August and end in May, like all over the world,” continued the head of the competition committee.
He continued: “Before my arrival, the five-year committee suggested establishing the league from a round and then a supplementary stage, but the clubs refused.”
Crown
And when asked when to postpone a League game due to Coronavirus infection, he replied: “More than 16 infections will postpone the game with a fine for the affected team.”
He explained: “It is not logical to take precautionary measures well and have such a large number of injuries. That is negligence and there must be a sanction.”
He concluded: “As for the presence of only 16 injured, the game will develop normally.”
