Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp defended his player, Mohamed Salah, after Burnley’s game.
Liverpool gave up two points in killer time and settled for a 1-1 draw at Burnley, a match that Salah angrily left after replacing him and involving Sadio Mane in his place.
“The day Salah smiles as he substitutes, something abnormal must happen,” Klopp said after the game, commenting on a shot out of Salah’s anger.
He added: “I understand his reaction 100%, but all there is is that he was away for 10 days due to his infection with the Coronavirus.”
He continued: “He trained once, then he played 60 minutes and three days later he plays again. You have to be careful with him.”
He continued: “He doesn’t like to be replaced, and we know it, but it’s over.”
Salah created Liverpool’s only goal in the match, which was scored by Diogo Jota.
Salah also scored a goal in the first half, which was disallowed by video technology.
The draw brought Liverpool to 21 points, one point ahead of Tottenham, who face Chelsea at the top of the 10th round tomorrow.
Brighton raised its score to 10 points, 6 points behind relegation positions.
Liverpool failed to win an away win in the Premier League for 4 consecutive games (3 draws and 1 loss) for the first time between January and March 2017..
This is the first time the Reds have lost points after a minute in the Premier League since 2017 against Watford in a match that ended in a 3-3 draw..
