The African Football Confederation (CAF) announced the postponement of the African Super Cup between Al-Ahly and Nahdet Berkane of Morocco for the first half of next year 2021, which will be held in Qatar.
A short enough statement as follows:
Faced with the difficulty of reaching an agreement with the Qatar Football Association to organize the 2019-2020 Al-Ahly Super Cup against Nahdet Berkane, the Executive Committee decided to hold the Super Cup in the first half of 2021.
The final was supposed to be held in Egypt during the month of December without setting an official date for it.
But Nahdet Borkan opposed holding the match in Egypt after confirming that the CAF had signed a contract with Qatar stipulating that the African Super Cup would be held there for three years.
An official African Union source, who declined to be named, previously told FilGoal.com: “The Super will continue in Qatar as is and will not be played in Egypt as scheduled.”
He continued, “because the sponsoring company refused to transfer him to Egypt due to the contract between the Qatari federations and their African counterpart.”
He continued: “Therefore, the match between Al-Ahly and Nahdet Berkane will be played in Qatar on a date to be determined.”
Al-Ahly were crowned the African Champions League after beating Zamalek by two goals to one.
While Borkan’s rebirth was crowned by the Confederacy, after defeating the pyramids with an unanswered goal.
