Japan denied having canceled the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games due to the Corona virus outbreak, in response to the British newspaper report, which said, according to a source from the event’s organizing committee, that the Summer Games will be canceled.

The Olympic Organizing Committee issued a statement highlighting that Japanese Prime Minister Yoshidi Suga is Egypt to host the Games, and that meetings have been held to confirm this.

“Some reports say that the Games will be canceled and they are totally false. All of our partners, including the government, the Tokyo metropolitan government, the organizing committee, the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee, are concentrating on hosting the Games this summer, “the statement said.

“We hope that daily life will return to normal as soon as possible, and we will continue to make every effort to prepare for safe games,” he added.

Speaking in Parliament on Friday morning, Suga said: “The games will be a symbol for humanity to overcome the coronavirus and an opportunity to show the rebuilding of Japan after the devastating earthquake of 2011.”

The games were postponed from the summer of 2020 to the summer of this year due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus around the world.

The games are supposed to start on July 23.

Tokyo will host the mega event for the second time in history, after hosting the Games in 1964.

More than 11,000 athletes from more than 200 countries are participating in the Olympiad.
