Moroccan soccer legend Mustafa Hajji who is the assistant coach of the Atlas Lions, urged his compatriot Ashraf Bencharqi to leave Zamalek and move to Europe.
The French website footmercato mentioned that the Moroccan star has wide European interest, and put the names of several clubs, in particular: Olympiacos, Nice, Montpellier, Strasbourg and Standard de Liege.
This is a step Hajji encouraged in his remarks to the Greek website Sport24, stressing the need to move to Europe immediately.
Hajji stated, “With a brilliant oriental, he is still young and has a great deal of quality, which performs distinctively in Egypt, but in my opinion he has to rise to a higher level.”
He added: “You have to get out of there and play in Europe.”
He stressed: “If you had the opportunity to play in Greece, what is the objection? Olympiacos will help you and you will do well.”
He emphasized: “I would like to see him play in Europe, well playing with both wings and behind the forward.”
He continued: “I have a very skilled oriental, since he is the top scorer, but he has to leave the Egyptian league, if he does it after one or two years, it may be too late.”
He continued: “He has to keep working hard, I have talked to him and advised him that it is the right time to leave and move to a great European club.”
Benchriki, 25, has been playing at Zamalek since the start of this season, and has already led him to crown the Egyptian Cup, the African Super Cup and the Egyptian Super Cup, in addition to reaching the semifinals of the League of African champions.
Benchriki has only 8 international matches on his team with the Moroccan national team, as former Atlas coach Herve Renard trusted more professional players from Europe.
