Hazem Imam, a Zamalek player, believes that the current generation of his club has held back Al-Ahly’s continued superiority in summit matches, indicating that his team’s lack of focus in matches prevents him from crowning the Egyptian Premier League title.
Hazem said during his interview with MBC Egypt on Tuesday: “Nobody is afraid of the Al-Ahly match now. Previously, in 2007, for example, there were players who were worried about the match, due to the previous results.”
And he continued: “The date for Al-Ahly’s match is appropriate (the next game in the League), when you lose to the traditional rival in an important tournament hoping that the next match will be compensated, just as Al-Ahly wanted us face in the league after losing the last super “.
He added: “We broke Al-Ahly’s continued superiority over Zamalek. In the generation of (Muhammad) Abu Trika and (Muhammad) Barakat, there were no clubs in Al-Ahly’s matches. We were crowned champions.”
“We lose the league title for easy games, but we win difficult games. We will win the championship when we play every match in the tournament as a cup match. The approach should be the same in all matches, such as big matchups,” he said.
Zamalek seeks to win the league title, which has been absent from their coffers since the 2014-2015 season.
In the last 6 years, the two clubs have met 19 times, Zamalek won 6 times and lost 10 matches.
The two teams meet again on December 28 in the fourth round of the league.
