The Chilean Football Association announced its contract with former Al-Ahly coach Martín Lasarte to lead the Chilean team.

Lasarte ended its negotiations with the Chilean federation before signing the contracts.

Lasarte arrived in the Chilean capital, Santiago, and a press conference is scheduled for his presentation on Thursday night.

“We are happy to have signed a contract with my family, who leads the team in the playoffs,” Pablo Milad, president of the Chilean Soccer Association, said in a statement.

“We believe that we have chosen the ideal coach to achieve the objectives for which the Chilean team strives,” he added.

Lasarte will lead the Chilean team until the 2022 World Cup.

Lasarte will succeed Reynaldo Rueda, who left La Roja training and became Colombia’s coach last month.

More than one name has been associated with the training of the Chilean team, the last of which is Argentine Hernán Crespo and compatriot Matisse Almeida.

Al-Ahly was the last station for my training department, after he coached the team from January 2019 to August of the same year.

And my family was crowned with the General Al-Ahly League title.

He played 31 games with Al-Ahly, winning 22, drawing 3 and losing 6.

The 59-year-old coach has previously coached Nacional Uruguay, Melonarios from Colombia, Real Sociedad from Spain and Al Wasl from the United Arab Emirates.

He also had experiences in Chile, having been a coach at the Catholic University from 2012 to 2013 and at the University of Chile from 2014 to 2015.

The Chilean team will be the family’s first experience as a national team coach.

The Uruguayan coach has previously won the League title in his country on 4 occasions, in addition to the Chilean League title together with the Egyptian League.
