FIFA announced that it officially approved the regulations for the Arab Cup, to be held in December.
This occurred at the FIFA Congress, which was held on Friday,The Council approved the regulations for the Arab Cup 2021, confirming the match schedule and the procedures for the draw for the tournament to be held in Qatar from December 1 to 18 this year.“.
“I hope that the 2021 regional tournament will bring together millions of football fans from across the Middle East and the Arab world,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said last year.
He revealed: “We are pleased that the 22 teams from across the Arab world have agreed to participate in the Arab Cup, which will take place in the stadiums of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.”
The tournament will be in preparation for Qatar, which will host the World Cup final in November 2022.
The 22 participating teams are Egypt, Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
The 16 teams that will participate in the final stage will be divided into 4 groups, and the first two will qualify for the quarterfinals, and 32 matches will be played in a period of 18 days.
