Bayern Munich have been close to signing Serginho Dest, back at Ajax Amsterdam.

The Dutch daily “AD” reported that Bayern Munich had defeated Barcelona and is in the final stage of negotiations with Ajax to include Dest.

Barcelona wanted to bring Dest to make up for Nelson Simedo’s impending departure to Wolverhampton, England.

But Bayern came a long way by signing Dest, after Ajax turned down his first offer, before a deal was reached.

Bayern Munich are working to permanently switch Joshua Kimmich to midfield after the departure of Thiago Alcantara, leaving Benjamin Pavard as the only true right-back on the Bavarian leader’s roster.

The three-time champion borrowed Álvaro Odriozola from Real Madrid in the second half of the previous season, but his loan ended and he returned to the Spanish club.

Dest, 19, is an American right-back, born in the Netherlands, but has chosen to represent the United States.

Dest is considered a youngster from Ajax Amsterdam, and was promoted to the first team last season, and played 37 games for the Dutch capital, during which he scored 2 goals and scored 6 goals.

Dest has 3 international appearances with the United States national team and won the 2019 Best Young American Talent award.
