Questions are raised about Liverpool defender Joel Matip’s ability to take part in Tottenham’s next Premier League game on Wednesday.
Matip was injured during the meeting with Fulham, which ended in a 1-1 draw on Matchday 12 of the Premier League, in the face of a strong defensive crisis that plagues the Reds, long injuring Virgil van Dyck and Joe Gomez.
“Joel Matip has back spasticity, at the moment, nothing more,” Klopp said in comments, especially on his club’s website.
“He has already received treatment, and will receive treatment and we’ll see,” added the German technician.
“I think there are possibilities to participate with him on Wednesday. The injury is not so bad.”
Klopp hopes the center-back is ready to visit Tottenham at Anfield on Wednesday, but is confident that a solution can be found if necessary.
“We have no problem with the number of players in the center position. We have enough players, but the younger ones,” he added.
“I hope Joel is fine, but if he is absent, we have to find a solution. This is the current football season.”
In the adult draw, Liverpool did not seize the opportunity and managed a disappointing draw with Fulham.
Bobby Reed scored the Fulham goal, while Mohamed Salah leveled from the penalty spot in the second half.
The draw lifted Liverpool’s balance to 25th to re-share the lead with Tottenham, while Fulham’s balance rose to eighth at 17th.
