The Brazilian Juventus player Danilo explained the difference between Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid manager, and Pep Guardiola, Manchester City manager.
Danilo was one of the lucky ones who trained with both and knows the difference between them.
“They were completely different in their way of working, but the two experiences were very positive for me,” Danilo said of their differences.
“Zidane is very calm and has a strong personality. He gets the best results from the players by making them feel comfortable,” he told the FIFA website.
“It was really wonderful working with him, and it was a very successful period for Real Madrid. My relationship with him was very good.”
Danilo won the Champions League twice under Zizou’s leadership, in the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons.
The Brazilian continued: “As for Guardiola, he is the opposite. He is full of vitality and brings out the best in his players thanks to this vitality.”
“It helped me with that vitality to give my maximum in every minute of the game. This is how it works,” he added.
“I was with him for two years and it was also a successful period in terms of results,” added the Juventus player.
The former Santos player won the Premier League title twice with City, the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons.
On his first impressions of his new Juventus coach, Andrea Pirlo, he said: “He is really calm. He understands the mentality of the players on the field because it has not been long since his retirement. He also knows everything about Juventus.”
And he continued, “Pirlo knows how to transmit his messages, and speak with the players face to face, to get the best results from them.”
“He’s starting to apply some really good tactical ideas, and he’s very clear about how he wants the team to play, which I really like. The first days with Pirlo were very positive.”
