Pyramids coach Ante Cacic described his rival, Al-Ahly, as “the strongest team in Egypt.”
Al-Ahly drew goalless with Pyramids on the penultimate round of the Egyptian League. (See details).
The Pyramids manager said: “Happy with the performance against Al-Ahly and playing for the win.”
In his remarks during the press conference, he added: “We are facing the strongest team in Egypt and the league champion, and I congratulate my team for the good performance and the series of consecutive games without loss.”
“A draw against Al-Ahly is a good thing, and we face difficulties represented by the fatigue of Omar Jaber and Ali Jabr,” he added.
He went on to say: “In the last 16 games, Al-Ahly scored 37 points and Pyramids scored 36 points, so he is completely satisfied with the team’s performance and we will compete to the end for second place.”
He noted, “I will work to prepare the players to face the Army Vanguards in the Egypt Cup, after which we will start preparing for the semi-final of the Confederation Cup.”
Al-Ahly has played with 10 players since the 40th minute after Amr Al-Soulia was sent off.
Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim “Kahraba” was also released, injured after only 10 minutes due to the injury.
Mohamed Magdy “Afsha” missed a penalty moments before the end of the first half, while the post launched a missile from Al-Ahly’s playmaker in the 75th minute.
Qaem Ali Lotfi also blocked a shot from Ibrahim Hassan in the 55th minute.
The draw put the fate of second place in the hands of Zamalek now, and not in the hands of Pyramids.
Pyramids has reached the point of 64 in 33 matches, while Zamalek has 65 points and a match against Haras El Hodoud.
Zamalek’s victory over the border guards and then the Ismaili means that the white knight won second place qualifying for the African Champions League, even with the Pyramids victory against the Arab Contractors, and 3 points were deducted from Zamalek’s balance.
While the outcome of the tie did not change the reality that Al-Ahly won the league title.
