The fateful hours Al-Masry lived through from Friday until Monday afternoon ended with the curtain falling on the Tariq Al-Ashry era with the team thanking him and the start of a new trip to the club with manager Ali Maher.
An era that began in mid-February, when the team suffered a severe blow by losing to the Arab Contractors with four unanswered goals to dismiss the Egypt Cup from the final price round, and the price would be the sacrifice of Ihab Galal, who was coach of the Port Said team for 14 months.
Soon, El-Ashry took up the task until he found himself in a complex task against the Moroccan Berkane Renaissance, the summer of the latest version of the Confederacy, in the quarterfinals of the continental championship.
Only 6 matches were all that Al-Ashri fought with Al-Masry, two continental matches, after which the team abandoned the Confederate Championship, and then it was the first local match 5 months after taking on the task, against Zamalek.
El-Ashry did not win any victory with Al-Masry. In the six games, he lost 4 times.
But he suffered a severe shortage on his roster after Zamalek’s match, after he and a large number of players were found to be infected with the Corona virus, which cost him a loss to Egypt by punt after that, Al- Ahly and a draw with Egypt Club.
The negative results of Al-Decathri, in addition to the postponement of 3 games for Al-Masry, place the team in 16th place, whose starter at the end of the season is relegated to the second division.
The crisis of the Port Said team was justified by telling Ontime Sports: “Corona beat us to death, demolished what I built in 6 weeks, I built a respectable team and everyone saw how we appeared in front of Zamalek.”
Al-Ashry accused a person who did not call him “treason” for failing to obtain the results of the Corona swabs 24 hours before Al-Ahly’s game last Saturday, and expressed his displeasure at negotiating with other coaches without his knowledge, despite his leadership in the team’s camp.
“I was surprised that Abd al-Zahir al-Sakka and the team doctor got the results of the swabs, why did they hide them from me? I felt betrayed by a certain person and not by the board of directors, whom I love and affection. The club negotiated with other coaches during my stay at the camp, “said Al-Ashry.
Al-Ashry believes that he presented what he was with Al-Masry and had it not been for Corona’s injuries, the results would have differed, but on the other hand, Al-Masry’s management saw that there was no other solution than to do without the former Coach the border guards and Enppi to save the team’s season.
Adnan Halabiya, a member of the club’s board of directors, told Ontime Sports: “Al-Ashry has not been betrayed, but there must be a vision from the board of directors for the future of the team.”
Halabiya admitted that it was the administration that asked to hide the results of the Corona swabs within the decade, and blamed the latter for the poor results of the team, saying: “Al-Ashry was working despite his infection with Corona. We asked Sakka not to inform him of the results of the swabs before the Al-Ahly match, and this is not a betrayal, as he said.
It appears that the administration’s decision not to inform El-Ashry of Corona’s results sparked an altercation between the latter and Al-Sakka, which was confirmed by Mohamed El-Khouly, Al-Masry’s vice president a few days ago, during his interview with the Sada Al-Balad channel.
Al-Khouli explained that Al-Sakka submitted his resignation after what happened, but Al-Masry rejected it.
Al-Masry’s journey with Al-Masry ended faster than the two games had imagined, perhaps because of Corona, and perhaps because the former was unable to fix deficiencies in the team since Ihab Jalal’s departure.
A new era for the Port Said club will begin with Ali Maher calling for the restoration of the team that finished in the top four in the last 4 seasons.
