Chelsea will play their first Premier League game without the newly arrived duo, Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell, according to a report published by “Athletic”.
The report said the duo are out of Frank Lampard’s plans to open the team to the Premier League this season, and Christian Pulisic will play in Ziyech’s place.
Ziyech suffered an ankle injury during a friendly against Brighton 11 days ago in preparation for the new season, and came out in the 54th minute, injured in his first appearance with the team.
Chilwell, in turn, suffered an injury against Leicester City at Crystal Palace last season in July, and the player has been working to regain his physical form since that injury.
The report stated that the couple will be absent for a period of two weeks or more, depending on the development of their condition.
And for David Silva, the newcomer, he will first undergo a Covid 19 test, before joining his peers, and in the event that his safety is tested, he will participate in his first training session on Thursday.
The report stated that Havertz drew attention to him for his rapid integration into the London club environment, noting that he is expected to appear for the first time during the league’s opener.
Chelsea are preparing to face Brighton in the first round of the new season’s Premier League, next Monday at 9:15 pm Cairo time.
