Hossam Ashour, the former captain of Al-Ahly, discussed the details of his crisis with his club’s board of directors, so it was decided to cancel his retirement match and leave the club earlier.
Ashour said in his interview with Magdy Abdel Ghani, head of the Professional Players Affairs Committee, during their meeting today Wednesday: “I told Sayed Abdel Hafeez, the football director, during my meeting with him, that I did not ask nothing throughout my career with the club. “
He continued: “I contacted Turki Al-Sheikh after a request from the administration and he promised me an international retirement festival in Saudi Arabia or Spain, with a private plane carrying the team and pocket money for all the players.”
He added: “Jamal Jaber, the director of Al-Ahly Media Center, asked me to shoot a video in which I would announce my retirement and would thank everyone. I filmed the video three times and each time Jamal Jaber asked me to repeat the matter as well. that in the end I asked him to send me the required speech format.
He continued: “In the video, I thanked everyone who contributed something good to my career and thanked Turki Al-Sheikh, and Turki was supposed to post a post about my retirement party on his page.”
He added: “We just needed to send the administration a letter thanking Turki. We waited from eight to one, and that did not happen.”
Ashour continued, “I called Jamal Jabr and asked him to just send the letter, and he postponed the matter until I was surprised that Mahmoud al-Khatib’s grandson was ill and the speech was postponed to the next day. I told him his position allows you to send the wording of the letter and not the letter itself until you sent it to me, but it didn’t happen. “
He continued: “After a while, I was surprised by a conference call between Abdel Hafeez and Jamal Jabr, me in which the former asked me to go to the club to record a new video. I told him what Jamal Jaber was doing. Why made me record more than one video before? “
He continued: “Turki Al-Sheikh was sad after I didn’t send him Al-Ahly’s letter, and the administration got mad at me and I have no sin. They asked me to contact him earlier. I didn’t go to see him of my own free will.”
He highlighted: “Turki Al-Sheikh used to speak to me despite his illness and promised to do whatever I asked, and I knew that whoever does something good for me should thank him. I was surprised by a subsequent Jamal Jabr campaign and it was said that I ran after money “.
He continued: “If I had been running after money, I would have done it at the age of 24 or 25 when I received a pound from Al-Ahly and I could get 10 pounds out of it, but that didn’t happen so should I think in the money now? “
“I needed 4 or 5 tournaments to become the most crowned player in the world, and there are people who do not want that,” Ashour concluded.
