Miguel Angel Jamondi, the Argentine sports director of the Wydad Casablanca team, is close to the team’s coach position, succeeding Juan Carlos Garrido, the team’s former Spanish coach.

According to the Moroccan site Sport360, Angel Gamunde will be Wydad Casablanca’s next manager until the end of this season.

The site says that Said Nassiri, president of Wydad, was forced to appoint the Argentine coach to the position of coach to succeed Garrido, because he knew all the details of the team and the technical and physical capabilities of all his players.

Wydad announced his separation from Garrido last night, by mutual agreement, due to poor results. (See details)

Miguel Jamondi has been Wydad’s sporting director since early 2020, and was Hassania Agadir’s coach prior to that until November 2019.

Wydad is currently in second place in the Moroccan League table with 41 points, behind leader Raja Sports, who has 45 points.

Wydad will meet Al-Ahly in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League on October 16-17, while Zamalek will play the other semi-final with Raja Casablanca.
