The Alexandria Directorate of Education evacuated Karmouz Preparatory School for girls, in order to preserve the lives of students, teachers and workers, due to its proximity to the sloping property of Kom Al Shuqafa.
The Education Directorate distributed the students to another nearby school, pending the implementation of the governor’s decision to demolish the property that is sloping to the ground surface and inspect neighboring properties to ensure their safety.
In a related context, decisions by the engineering committee formed by the Alexandria University College of Engineering included the temporary eviction of 8 properties adjacent to the residents’ sloping property without furniture.
The West Alexandria neighborhood abandoned property No. 140 on Amiriya Street in the Kom al-Shuqafa area, which bears the name “Arwa Tower” and includes 12 floors of residents and furniture, after a 50 cm incline.
For her part, Sahar Shaaban, head of the West Alexandria district, explained that the property was built in 2014 with a height of 10 stories, and the property owner built two more stories in 2017 in violation of the law, regardless structural safety.
She noted that the property had a 20cm slope about a year ago, and her neighbors refused to implement the neighborhood’s decision to evict her quickly and decided to stay on the property at her own risk, and did not take any serious action to fix the trend of the property.
The head of the Western District added that the property had a steep incline without warning, reaching 50 cm this week, and its floor was cracked, which required immediate intervention and the forced evacuation of residents to preserve their lives and protect the properties. neighboring homes.
