Ricky added, during a press conference held today at the Ethiopian embassy headquarters in Cairo: “We have not formally communicated with Ethiopia about Sudan’s proposed mediation committee quartet, and we only learned about it from the media.”
During the reception of Maryam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan, on Wednesday, Donald Booth, special envoy of the United States for Sudan and South Sudan, Sudan considered that the unilateral actions of Ethiopia in the file of the Renaissance Dam undermined mutual trust, adding that Ethiopia was trying to buy time to complete the filling process of the second dam fill, while Washington called for a binding and fair settlement regarding Ethiopia’s Great Renaissance Dam.
President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi confirmed on Tuesday that Egypt had chosen to negotiate the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam archive from the beginning.
He added at a press conference at the Suez Canal Authority: “Hostile action is ugly and has effects that extend for many years, because people do not forget about it. The battle for us is a negotiation battle. All the days public opinion and international officials realize that Egypt is gaining ground. All we ask is something that does not go beyond the laws. It is related to transboundary waters, in which there is an additional movement on the subject during the next few weeks. We hope to reach a binding legal agreement. “
