Dr. Muhammad Shaker, Minister of Electricity, had stated that the government seeks to achieve sustainable development and improve the standard of living of citizens, as well as create an investment climate and work on the participation of the private sector in infrastructure projects and promote industrial, tourist, mining, urban and agricultural development at the same time.

He explained that energy is one of the most important pillars of Egyptian national security, as comprehensive sustainable development plans in all fields are linked to the state’s ability to provide the energy resources necessary to implement these plans, and the state strives to preserve energy resources and maximize their use.

He noted that the country had set Egypt’s vision for 2030, with the goal of placing Egypt among the developed countries in the world.

He explained that despite the great challenges Egypt faced in providing energy to the local market during an earlier stage, the Egyptian state was able, as before, to transform challenges and difficulties into opportunities and gains on the ground.

He pointed out the most important fruits of these policies, the definitive elimination of the crisis of frequent power outages, since more than 28,000 megawatts of electrical capacity were added at the end of 2019, and thus the available electrical generation capacities became sufficient to satisfy the needs of investors throughout the republic in electric power.
