Dr. Ayman Hamza, spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energies, confirmed that the 9 electricity distribution companies nationwide have begun to collect the value of the evaluations for the installation of coded electricity meters for those who requested to go beyond accounting with practice system to the installation of coded meters through the unified electronic electrical services platform.
Hamzah added, in exclusive statements to ‘El Séptimo Día’, that the ministry continues to receive requests from code counters until the end of November, noting that there is a great demand from citizens to legalize electrical conditions and account for real consumption of the citizen instead of the practice system.
The Cabinet approved the abolition of the system of practices in force in state-owned electricity distribution companies, and its replacement by the code meter system, by reactivating Prime Minister’s Decree No. 886 of 2016, modified by Resolution No. 231 of 2017, to install temporary code meters in all connected facilities and buildings. The electrical current to the same illegally until these establishments and buildings are legalized, or the sentences and administrative resolutions that are issued in this regard are implemented without implying legal rights for the offenders, and the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energies dictates the implementing rules.
