President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from President Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of South Africa, on Wednesday evening.

Ambassador Bassam Rady, spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, said that the convocation referred to developments in the “Renaissance Dam” file, in light of the African Union, led by South Africa, of the tripartite negotiations between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia.

The President reaffirmed the Egyptian principles regarding the “Renaissance Dam”, especially regarding the resumption of tripartite negotiations to formulate a binding and comprehensive legal agreement among all interested parties on the rules for the filling and operation of the dam, and rejected any action or proceeding affecting Egypt’s rights in the waters of the Nile.

The official spokesperson added that the contact also addressed some issues of bilateral cooperation between Egypt and South Africa, as well as the exchange of views on developments on a number of regional issues and archives related to the African Union.
