Egypt’s Supreme Council for Media Regulation decided to open an urgent investigation with broadcaster Radwa El-Sherbiny over what she said was “a conversation about the unveiled,” following a video in which she supported veiled women and He urged them to stick with him.

The young announcer sent a message to those who wish to remove the veil due to pressure or temptation, to stick to it, during her program “Ella y Bas” presented on one of the Egyptian channels.

Radwa El-Sherbiny often sparks controversy on social media sites due to her method of dealing with social and family relationships, causing some men and women to attack them as well.

Radwa said: “For each one who is the only one with a veil in the group of his peers or in his family or in his street or in his work, I remove the veil. You are better than me and one who is not covered 100 a thousand times”.

And Radwa El-Sherbiny added: “A demon without a veil itself is stronger than your faith and strength.”

Egypt’s Supreme Media Council (an official body) said it would open an investigation into complaints it had received regarding what the broadcaster said about “unveiled women.”

The channel removed the clip from its accounts on social media sites, but activists quickly reposted it.

This is not the first time that Radwa has supported the veils, as she has demonstrated more than once in several episodes of support for veiled women and her call to adhere to the veil, despite the presenter not wearing a veil.

Part of an episode in March 2019 in which Radwa talks about the hijab.
