A new incident against an Egyptian expat in Kuwait continues to happen, unless it is followed by a new incident that generates more controversy, especially on social media. However, “it does not represent the Kuwaitis.”

The number of Egyptians in Kuwait is half a million, and the Egyptian workforce ranks second in terms of numbers in the oil-rich Gulf country, according to official Kuwait statistics.

In the following report, Masrawy reviews the most prominent assault incidents that took place against Egyptians in Kuwait:

Fahaheel incident: “Kuwaitis document their assault on an Egyptian worker”

Three Kuwaitis documented the moment of their assault on an Egyptian expatriate in a toy store in Fahaheel, south of Kuwait, in a video clip published by the “Kuwait Inspection” news network account, documented via Twitter.

And it is clear from the video that circulated on Sunday that the attackers insisted on documenting the incident with the video, confirming their intention to hit the Egyptian worker, according to the network authorized by the Kuwait Ministry of Information, according to her personal profile through Twitter

The motives for the fight or its timing are unclear, while the video shows that two Kuwaitis were targeted at the Egyptian worker, while a third documented his assault, as he was beaten and thrown to the ground.

So far, there has been no official response from the Kuwaiti authorities, who have previously interfered in similar incidents of aggression. However, the State Ministry for Immigration and Egyptians Abroad confirmed that the video is “fragmentary” and does not include all the details of the incident.

The ministry said in a statement on Sunday that the incident was due to a dispute over products at a children’s play store that ended with “an apology to the Egyptian citizen,” adding that the attacking Kuwaitis are now detained and investigated in the police station.

Slapping incident: “Kuwaiti slaps Egyptian three times in the face”

Last July, another Egyptian worker, Walid, was beaten by a Kuwaiti national in the “Sabah Al-Ahmad” trade association, after the former demanded that he comply with the association’s rules and pay for his belongings in a way that it will not violate store regulations.

The Kuwaiti citizen only slapped the Egyptian worker three times before the supermarket crowd interfered.

The young Egyptian said that he refrained from taking any reaction because the attacker is older than him, adding that “he believed that by law he would take his right.” In fact, he later went to the police station to file a complaint.

In a quick reaction, the president of the association, Nasser Dha’ar Al-Otaibi, resigned, expressing his discontent at the “shameful behavior that occurred by the citizen in front of the public and under the roof of an entity that manages it” . The assailant was arrested and the case was registered as a misdemeanor.

Nabila Makram, Minister of Immigration, contacted the Egyptian Consulate in Kuwait until the Kuwaiti attacker was arrested and the case was registered as a misdemeanor. And she stressed that “these incidents are individual and should not represent a problem between the two peoples.”

Hospital incident: a Kuwaiti and a Saudi beat an Egyptian doctor for “forced treatment”

In August, a Kuwaiti citizen and another Saudi assaulted an Egyptian doctor named Ahmed Al-Sayed, after they broke into his room and beat him, demanding that they be forcibly treated, according to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai.

A security source confirmed, according to Al-Rai, that “two people appeared to be in an unnatural condition due to their behavior, and severely beat a receptionist for no reason” at Al-Adan Hospital in Kuwait.

He added that “the two policemen intervened to arrest them, but broke the door of one of the doctors’ offices and attacked an Egyptian doctor inside the hospital,” telling him: “You are treating us yourself.” And when the authorities intervened to calm things down, they beat him and insulted him.

The two assailants were referred to the competent authorities in relation to the case of “insulting and assaulting security men and employees of the Ministry of Health in the performance of their work, and assaulting references” which was referred to the General Directorate of Investigation Criminal, to find out your details and check the video surveillance cameras, in preparation to take legal action against you.

– Pediatrician incident: “He examined his baby … and broke the bones in his knee”

In June, an Egyptian doctor, a pediatrician named Tamer Shousha, was beaten at the South Sulaibiya Clinic in Kuwait by an Arab migrant wearing national costume, causing him to fracture his knee bones.

The Kuwaiti labor advisor, Ahmed Ibrahim, explained the cause of the incident, saying that “during the examination of the aggressor’s young son, who was not more than 8 months old, he vomited on his father’s clothes, which provoked his anger, who took him out of the clinic and called someone who asked him to bring him a gun.

He added: “The perpetrator entered the doctor on the pretext that the child needed to look at him. After the doctor left the room, he kicked him in the knee and threw him to the ground and he could not move. Immediately the security forces intervened and they called the police. ” The case is classified as a felony.

– The “Karate Kid” Incident: He beat his son in a competition … and hit him!

In 2018, an Egyptian boy named Youssef was assaulted by a Kuwaiti national after he defeated his son in a karate competition, in the Kuwaiti area of Salmiya.

The Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai reported, at the time, that “the (Kuwaiti) citizen sanctioned an Egyptian boy who beat his son in a karate competition by beating him so that he would not dare to defeat his opponent again.”

The boy’s father, who was 10 years old at the time, disclosed a case of beating the aggressor father, after smartphone cameras documented the attack, where “the father of the defeated child entered the arena and attacked my son with force, so he threw him to the ground in front of everyone and spoke to him. Sporadic bruising “.

One case of beating was recorded against the Kuwaiti attacker. The father of the attacked child confirmed that “the incident is individual and does not reflect the Kuwaiti people.”

– The Sahel incident: “They took 514 dinars and beat him”

That same year, an Egyptian expatriate was severely dragged and beaten in the Sabahiya area, after unknown persons intercepted him to seize his money.

The Kuwaiti daily Al-Anbaa pointed out, at the time, that the Prosecutor’s Office ordered the arrest and summons of the accused quickly, after receiving a report from the brother of the attacked Egyptian worker, who worked for a soft drink company, with a medical report attached to the damage sustained, including fractures and abrasions to separate parts.

The incident occurred after unknown persons intercepted the road to Al-Wafd Al-Masry, and asked him to exchange a 20 dinar bill and steal it by force, and when he tried to resist, they beat him and dragged him into a car who was on board at a distance of 50 meters.
